Supporting International

Youth Sport

With our strong association with the game of tennis through the tournaments and venues we provide hospitality to in the UK and USA and our support for health and wellbeing, Compass has, for the last four years, sponsored the International Clubs World Junior Challenge. This is a series of qualifying tournaments for tennis players aged 16 and under from across the world, culminating in a world final held every two years.

The tournament is organised by the International Club, founded in 1924, which oversees 38 international clubs, enabling a love of tennis and sport to bring young people from many nations closer together – ‘hands across the net, friendship across the ocean’.

As well as providing vital funding, our local businesses work closely with the host club to provide hospitality for the players, officials, coaches and supporters, most recently at the 2008 Finals in New Zealand, won by the host nation and prior to that, the European Challenge in Italy. The 2008 Finals and the qualifying South American Challenge in Argentina were the first to include a tennis clinic for disabled and underprivileged youngsters and this will now be a regular feature of the Junior Challenge tournaments.
