In October 2009, our US team were delighted to be awarded both the Technology Award and the much coveted ‘Vendor of the Year’ Award in the 2009 Microsoft Vendor Programme Excellence Awards. We were the only company recognised in two different categories.
The winners of the awards were selected from among more than 17,200 Microsoft vendors and service providers in the US by a panel of Microsoft Executives and recognised for the exceptional service they provide in terms of outstanding quality, value, service, innovation, delivery, organisational health, supply chain management, diversity, technology, environmental practices and price.
As 'Vendor of the Year', among our other contributions to Microsoft is the provision of hospitality and support services in nine countries spanning three continents. In North America alone, Compass Group provides food service for 9 million people each year, manages 9 conference spaces in Silicon Valley and 141 in the Puget Sound region, manages audiovisual (AV) services, and provides design recommendations for new AV-related construction projects and facility upgrades.

In the technology category, we, in partnership with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), developed design guidelines that helped Microsoft realise $2.7 million (approx £1.6m; €1.8m) in capital savings and improve its software, as well as help increase the quality of OEM products.
By winning these two awards we have firmly established our reputation as an exemplary vendor, having previously won Microsoft’s Environmental Award in 2008.
